The Interns, Episode 1 — First Meeting New

Six on one. The new intern team meets its manager, and teaches him what “not psychic” actually means.

The Interns is Bursera’s LinkedIn screenplay series about running an AI team like a team, not a tool. The pilot, Red Team, showed what happens when a fresh set of eyes catches an overclaim the room had missed. Episode 1, First Meeting, goes back to day one: six interns land in a single Teams channel, and Luke — twenty years of writing everything himself — has to learn what leading them actually looks like.

The plain version, since it’s the point of the episode: the team is brilliant and not remotely psychic. Point it at something vague and it won’t stall — it will produce work that’s fast, confident, and completely generic. Generic is the tell. The fix isn’t a cleverer prompt; it’s handing the team the one thing only the leader has, and then asking what else it needs.

The takeaway: when AI output comes back competent but generic, that’s not the tool failing — it’s telling you what it doesn’t have. Hand it the specifics, and ask what else it needs.
